Arrival & Transition
Parking
Park entry fee is waived until 7:00 AM. After 7:00 AM, regular park entrance fee applies. Follow parking attendants to the Reservoir’s north or south overflow lots.
Water Temp & Weather
Air temp expected to reach 79°F by midday. Boulder Reservoir water temperature is 72°F (as of June 22).
Transition
Athletes only inside transition. Spectators must stay on the other side of the barricades — for everyone’s safety.
Body Marking
Get marked by a volunteer at the transition entrances on Sunday. It’s a USAT rule.
Bike Racks
Assigned by bib number (distance & division). If you set up in the wrong area you’ll be asked to move. Each athlete is allotted 2.5 ft of width.
Course Maps
Per USAT rules, it is your responsibility to know the course. Maps online and at packet pickup — not printed for each athlete.
Swim · Bike · Run
Swim
Safety boats, jet skis, kayaks, certified lifeguards and directional buoys are on the water. You may rest on a kayak — they cannot help with forward propulsion. In an emergency, wave your swim cap overhead and a boat will come. Nervous swimmers can request a distinctive-color cap from the Race Director at packet pickup; our water safety team will keep extra eyes on you.
Bike
One aid station on the Olympic course with Endurance Formula Gatorade and water. Roads are open to traffic — stay on the shoulder unless passing. Arvada Tri provides race-morning mechanical support; be prepared to handle minor maintenance yourself in case support is delayed. Discard bottles & nutrition only inside the aid-station drop zones — let's keep Boulder clean.
Run
Gatorade and water at run aid stations, approximately every mile. The 5K, 10K and Duathlon start in the SE corner of the parking lot, next to the finish line, at 7:20 AM.
Timing, Medical & Hydration
Timing & Results
Multisport: wear chip on either ankle the entire race. Chips are unique — don’t swap. If you drop out, return your chip at the Timing Trailer. Running events use disposable chips on the bib — no return needed.
Lost Chip
Lost before race? Get a replacement at race-day pickup. Lost on course? Tell the timer immediately after the finish. NO CHIP = NO TIME. $20 fee for unreturned chips.
Results & Photos
Live results posted at the Timing Trailer and at bbscendurance.com/bouldersunrise — click My Race Results. Photos by FinisherPix: finisherpix.com.
Medical
Medical support at the finish line and on the bike course. On-course: flag a support vehicle, aid-station volunteer, or another athlete. All aid stations carry two-way radios.
Hydration
Start hydrating a week out — especially the 2–3 days before race day. It’s the single best way to avoid a visit with the medics.
Lost & Found
Timing Trailer near the finish line. Email info@bbsctri.com. Items kept 2 weeks, then donated. Postage required for return.
USAT Rules & Policies
Age Group
Your age is determined by how old you’ll be on December 31 for all USAT Sanctioned events. Check the correct age group for results.
Bib & Body Marking
Required and must be visible at all times to avoid a USAT penalty.
Sanitation
Use the portable units — relieving yourself elsewhere on course violates USAT rules (indecent exposure). Review common violations at usatriathlon.org.
No Bib Transfers
Bibs are non-transferable per your registration waiver. Bibs identify you for medical and timing — transferring may bar you from future events and disqualify awards.
Inclement Weather
The Race Director and/or Park Management may reschedule, modify or cancel any portion of the event for safety. No refunds for rescheduled, modified or canceled events.
Awards & Prizes
Top 3 overall in every race. Age group and division awards in the Triathlons, Duathlon and Aquabike. Don’t miss the ceremony — winners must be present, otherwise email info@bbsctri.com within 2 weeks.
Athlete Notes
Zero Waste
Boulder Sunrise is a Zero Waste event. Sort materials at the stations into compostable and recyclable. No glass bottles allowed at Boulder Reservoir.
No Pets
Boulder Reservoir doesn’t allow dogs this time of year. Leave pets at home.
Shirt Swap
Pick up your registered size at packet pickup. Need a different size? Stop by the Timing Trailer after you race — we’ll swap if extras are available.
